How to select your wine...

Make up your mind about the sort of wine you want and how much you're prepared to spend. Read the label on the front of the bottle (forget the sales pitch on the back) and try to understand what it's telling you.

If there isn't much information on the front label, this probably means there isn`t much to say about the wine. It's quite likely to be a mix of grapes of different types, qualities and origins that has been formulated without any great degree of sophistication. The wine may still be palatable but you can imagine the kind of equipment and chemicals needed to produce a million or more litres of such fermented grape juice. If the label is a riddle to you, you can find out about the mysteries of wine from the wealth of literature available these days.
